Raketa watches have been produced since 1962, first in the Soviet Union, at the Petrodvortsov Watch Factory in St. Petersburg, the oldest factory. It was founded by Peter the Great in 1721 as the Peterhof Lapidary Factory for the manufacture of hard stone carvings. The "Raketa" watch was produced for the Red Army, for expeditions to the North Pole, as well as for the civilian population.
