A common theme in my work is trying to capture an ordinary moment in time which goes by largely unnoticed but which is precarious. The provision of these houses is constantly under review by the authorities as the estate is statistically, the most deprived neighbourhood in Leicester today and the most income deprived neighbourhood in England (Indices of deprivation 2007)
The population is extremely diverse with large numbers of new arrivals. Although the estate faces some significant challenges, standards of housing have improved as a result of the government's 'Decent Homes' programme. The area remains known as one of the most dangerous in Leicestershire.
