This lovely, long Belgian tapestry style runner features 2024 a central panel of a couple dancing or courting in the garden. The length is extended by way of strips of chenille, velvet and ribbon.
The pieces in 35 inches long with 2 inches of tassels on either end. It is 13 inches across. It is backed on a beige cotton panel. Please see the collage of pictures where the stains are photographed.
The front of the piece is in very good vintage condition with only very small/faint stains or discolouration on the green velvet at the top and bottom. The tasseled fringe is in excellent condition,
The backing has water stains along the length of one side with a little spot of red colour transfer, a stain in the shape of a ring from a plat pot, a small and a twin in the shape of a small rectangle in one corner. These marks do not seem to transfer to the image side and are quite faint.
This piece could be easily adapted to a wall or door hanging by stitching loops to the backing fabric, and removing/folding back the top tassels.
