A beautiful handmade ceramic teacup with hand carved and painted magical aliens decoration.
The approximate dimensions are 4.5X3.5X3.5 inches, and it holds about 9 oz.
This cup is food safe and can be put in the dishwasher. Hand washing will extend the life of the cup and is preferred. Do not microwave.
This cup is a pinch pot, so it has a bumpy texture and somewhat wonky shape. For the design I first painted three layers of white underglaze on the outside and inside of the bowl. After that has dried I used the method of sgraffito to hand carve a figurative design. I then used underglaze to paint the carvings. After the bisque fire I applied a dark glaze onto the carved design and sponge it off so it stays only in the carved ridges. I then cover the whole cup with a clear glossy glaze.
