Mid Century Chinese Figural Teapot 2024 Shou Xing Longevity Immortal, Vintage Porcelain Teapot Old Man with Peach, Oriental Asian Decor
Excellent vintage figural teapot featuring Shou Xing, one of the Chinese Immortals, God of Longevity. Mid century hand painted Chinese porcelain in amazing, perfect condition! Circa 1960s.
This is a beautifully crafted antique Chinese Good Luck Long Life teapot, very colorful with many fine details and gilt accents. It features Shou Xing embracing a giant peach, the Chinese Star God of Longevity, known by his long forehead and long white beard.
Three Chinese Immortals make up the Fu Lu Shou, the "Three Star Gods", or, San Xing in Chinese. Our Shou Xing here is the Star God of Longevity. The peach is a Chinese symbol of longevity and good fortune, the "peaches of immortality". It is believed that a long life is bestowed 2024 upon all who eat them. A figural teapot such as this given as a gift would bring a "wish for a long and happy life", and it could also be used as feng shui placement in a kitchen, dining area, or display area.
The porcelain is bright white, hand painted with air brushed pastel colors. The peach is nicely molded with a soft pink hue that graduates down to a base of green leaves. The spout and handle are molded brown branches. Shou Xing embraces the peach, adorned in a gold robe with elaborate gilt and hand painted designs. The small lid is also gilt and is shaped as small fruit. It has a pierced hole for letting out steam when seeping tea.
This amazing mid century figural Shou Xing teapot is 7 inches wide by 6.5 inches tall and is in absolute mint condition with no wear, chips, cracks, or restorations. It is marked on the bottom in both English and Chinese, a green stamped mark "Made in China". There appears to be some fading to some of the design on his gold robe, but minor.
What a fabulous vintage Chinese longevity teapot, amazing in such pristine condition. Makes a very thoughtful gift for someone special!
