1951 RCA Victor Model 1-R-81 Made In Usa Ser# U064970
RCA All Tube Radio Still Works. Made In Usa RCA's "Livingston" radio (model 1R81) retailed for $79.50 in 1951—or about the cost of high-end smartphone in today's dollars.
Please, you will need to hook up an antenna on the back
There are thousands to choose from. Me, I used copper wire and it worked fine. I test all items when I test them and before I ship them. The antenna for am that RCA put in the top corner is worth the Price itself, really a work of art.
9" tall, 16" wide, 9"thick RCA Victor Model 1-R-81 Made In Usa Ser# U064970
RCA All Tube Radio Still Works. This was stored in a glass
case. For about 30 years, I removed the 5 Tubes & cleaned them and used a product called Deoxit for the contacts about 20 dollars worth I used it on the turner parts as well.the 5 tubes I cleaned were all Sylvania brand Tubes.I plugged it in and let the tubes heat up and was able to tune to many
stations. I think the tubes and power transformer are upgraded. Please read this as I am an honest seller and I want you to understand what you are buying.
First, it is a working radio, meaning you can tune in to more than one station and it's clear and loud.
For me, I have lots of radios so I'm, superstitious about some things. ie: If it isn't broken don't fix it.
It has a selector on the side that says AM FM PH. I was very
careful turning the knob, I had a radio and the pots was hard to turn. On this radio I put a generous amount of DEoxit on this part. I did not force it to turn. The last thing you want is a broken one of a kind knob. Honesty
I have lots of Victoria, radios (big & small) and It's just time to let someone else enjoy this.
Nothing beats the sound from a tube amp, radio etc.
This radio has at least 2 lights for the dial in front, both
either need cleaning or bulbs (very cheap). As I said the radio
works so I Don't Want To Jinx Myself.
The dial on the front 2024 is so awesome, there is some fuzz from time. I don't want to break it, so some cleaning will only make it better.
I'm not sure but the back says phono, the selector knob has a
PH and there is a ground connection. It might let you hook up a
record player, mind you, it will be in mono. I will include a
stereo to mono adapter. If it's really is for a phono then this
means you can connect your phone, mp3 player, I pod, Guitar?
I'm just saying it's a radio.
Let's talk about the Bakelite finish. Bakelite is the mother of
all synthetic plastics. Invented a century ago it still holds a
significant value in the plastics industry. It's old but with a
Bakelight polish and seeing that there are no deep scratches
you will have a beautiful radio. I could have done what most
sellers. do shame on them. I could have used furniture polish and it would make the pictures better. I'm honest and Polish you Need is very cheap online.
Another cool thing about this radio is no grill cloth, RCA made it with holes which I like.
One knob seems to be a tone knob.
If you have a question please ask first. I would bet you wont find a working model of this radio that is free of cracks and defeats.
The postage is gonna be high as the unit weighs 45 pounds. The
shipping product I use is a high-tech mix that forms a shell.

Hi and thank you for you email about the radio I will endeavor to answer your questions. The case is in good shape I don't buy radios or Victoria's that are have broken cases. I have a furniture repairman that makes them look great.
The fuzz is the sound from it's age and I didn't run a 50 foot antenna to it. I have a 37 Zenith stars and stripes model I had the electronic's repaired but without a good antenna it gets the same sound. I want to be clear. This radio will need this or that, maybe just swap out the tubes my do it. I used deoxit and it always helps. The knobs are tight and I said that in the ad I don't force pots ever. There's no slipping I didn't check the alignment. This radio was in service until the owner bought a newer one. It's a very nice radio if it was junk I would have thrown it in the trash, really I've done that many times.
yea it's a nice one. I forgot to add that the dial lights do not light up but I've never and I'm not kidding I never bought an old radio with the lights still working. I always look to see how to replace them, online videos show you. Most times you have pull the guts out of the case and that messes with your dial string 50/50 chance. I looked at the pictures I uploaded and you can tell nobody has tried to play Mr radio fixer. That's always great I have the book you should
I live alone always have, no kids no smoking, no pets so it's
nice.
