This fine box is handcrafted by Nick Molignano in his woodworking studio from Lace Maple Burl, a tree growth of dormant buds that create a swirling pattern of birds eyes and lace designs, combined with Spalted Maple, a hardwood with distinctive black line streaking caused 2024 by the activity of fungus growth in the tree.

They are beautiful containers for jewelry, watches, pens or any special keepsake endearing to the owner. Always a much appreciated gift.

All boxes are sculpted from outstanding exceptional cuts of premium hardwoods from around the world.

The artist uses the grain patterns in these specialty woods to express his artistic vision just as a painter uses his medium to demonstrate his message.

The work is meant to be as attractive to the eye as well as the touch of the hand.

This functional sculpture slides open with the smoothest action on felt glides. Boxes are fully lined with wine colored plush rayon and have felt feet on the bottom. The exquisite lacquer finish is the finest finish one can apply to wood like a concert grand piano or a great guitar.
