This is a beautiful French boxed set of leather bound missel and mother of pearl rosary. Both the missel and the rosary are in beautiful condition, however, one of the beads on the rosary has been broken in half. The front of the missel has glorious gilt tooling. It is by J Depelley & Cie of Limoges and is Missel No 73, which I believe dates to between 1920 and 1930.
This would have been a gift to a young girl on her 1st Holy Communion 2024. It has been cared for and looked after, with both items carefully stored in the original box. The rosary measures 33cms or 13" and the little heart has been carved from mother of pearl too. There is a mark on the crucifix, which could be a silver mark but I am afraid it is far to small to make out, so I will not refer to it as silver.
The rosary has been stored in a little leather pouch - please see photographs. The box is lined in fabric and it is in general good condition but with some scuffing to the surface on the outside.
