2024 A beautiful fully handmade genuine New Zealand brilliant Round Red Paua Shell set in a fine silver bezel on a Sterling Silver Bark Effect ring band. Size is currently a UK 'N' - N1/2', (US 6.75 / 7). Can possibly size up 2 sizes (but not reduce due to stone set). Hallmarked.
The Silver band is 1.4mm thick and 4mm wide. The Bezel Set Paua Shell measures 8mm in diameter and sits in a shallow setting 3.8mm high. The light plays beautifully across the shell showing reflections of dark reds and bright yellows.
As this shell is found in a number of colors, it represents the beauty of life, which is 'change' that we experience every day. It is a common Maori practice to gift paua shells to one another.
Paua shells were widely used by the ancient Maori in the eyes of their sculptures. They especially valued shells with red tints due to its representation as the red eyes of a Maori Warrior.
