Product code: Antique 19th Century New Wharf Potteries Tennyson Transfer Inset Pattern 2024 Porcelain Tray

This here is a truly wonderful antique Late 19th Century New Wharf Potteries Tennyson Pattern Tray. New Wharf Potteries began in England in the 1860s and were in production until being absorbed by Wood & Son Co in 1894. This brown on white pattern, known as the Tennyson Pattern, I believe to be from the 1880s, features two inset images of a Perched bird and a cottage scene, with floral depictions of blossoms, berries and Grains, a lily pad water scene and a sailing ship, all within a border edge pattern. Measuring appr 14 1/2” by 11 3/4”, with an appr 1 1/2” height to rim, 2024 this tray is In very good condition, especially for a piece over 120 years old. Their is some wear from age and use, with some crazing, surface wear and discoloration from age. There is some minor wear to the pattern in spots, mainly to the border pattern near lower right corner, all as can be seen in photos. This tray would likely look fantastic with a proper cleaning, if so desired. There is one tiny, tiny edge chip in one spot, as shown in photos, that looks to have occurred quite some time age. Otherwise there are no chips or cracks. Tennyson, RdNo709, N.W.P.Co with a B is marked on the bottom, once again, as can be seen in photos. This pattern also came in a black on white version. I do believe this, the brown on white, to be among the rarer of the two. Overall, a very nice Antique New Wharf Potteries Porcelain Tray that would look fantastic displayed in any setting. Perfect for collectors of antique trays and porcelain pieces.
