2024 Wood and sawdust fired piece in a pit behind my studio. A tasteful piece of smokeware to add to your collection. This multipurpose piece stands just 4 inches high but packs a mix of smoky colors. A decorative leaf imprint created from pressing a real leaf against the pot. A pit firing makes an excellent dry storage container.
Pit firing is the first method known for firing clay pieces. Ceramic pieces are placed into a fire pit and a wood fire is carefully built around and on top. Other burnables are added to create a blush of color from the firing.
The clay body remains very porous and is suitable for an assortment of dry goods.
This unique piece would make a great gift and fit into any home decor or get it just for you.
