On offer is this rare Austrian suitcase shaped powder compact. The case has been enamelled to resemble brown leather and the lid is decorated with travel 'stickers' from around the globe. Destinations include Amsterdam, Rome, London, Paris, Monte Carlo, New York, Vienna and Milan. There are also 'stickers' for the ocean liners RMS Queen Mary and the Normandie. Inside, the compact is stamped 'Model Depose' and 'Made in Austria'.
The compact measures approximately 3 inches (7.5cms) by 2 inches (5cms).
Condition: The compact is in reasonably good condition, with some missing 2024 enamel and other signs of wear to both the exterior and interior, but still displays well. The mirror has lots of age related marks but, surprisingly, is still usable. The hinges are stable and in full working order and the clasp opens easily and snaps shut securely. There are no other faults that I can find. The defects have been reflected in the low asking price.
