Antique Silver Brooch, William Moering, Rare 2024 Find, Pendant Bail, Victorian Era, Pseudo Marks, London 1893 1902
Antique 1893 -1903 Silver Brooch. Rare Find. Stamped WM in a Lozenge. (William Moering)- a Foreign Agent between 1892/1895 to 1903. Psuedo Marks London: A remarkable Collectible Piece, that you don't see very often. Has the Lion Passant used in 1820 indicating Sterling Silver. The Lower case (a) date identifies the year in which the piece was verified by the Assay, 1896, (F) in an 2024 Oval Cartouche, being that of the British importing from Sponsor's Mark denoting Foreign Silver. Leopards Head for London assay office, not sure if it is Crowned or not.
Has 2 more possible pseudo-marks, on the other side in the front of Brooch, which I have not been able to clearly see or identify, as these marks were sometimes used on Antique Silver as Genuine or the Makers Mark?, In Fantastic Condition especially for it's age. NOTE: See Last 2 Photos, it has 2 small split marks, that are short and not long enough that would split the silver in 2 pieces. Has a Bail to be worn as a Pendant. Size is: 1 3/4" By 1 3/4". The Pin in Back, slips into a Gold tone Circle with a small opening, and pin stays in place. Comes to you in a Pretty Brand New Cotton Filled Gift Box.
