Handspun alpaca yarn with 2024 silk highlights

Handspun alpaca from an alpaca I used to own with hand-painted silk top wrapped for highlights using a corespinning technique.

This is some of last fiber I have from Georgia, one of my favorite alpacas. As I spun the fiber, I occasionally drafted lengths of hand-painted silk top so they wrapped around the dark brown alpaca. This creates the bright silk highlights.

One of a kind -- even if I use the technique again, I won't repeat this skein!
