This is a vintage 1981 edition of the Avalon Hill Bookcase Game - Amoeba Wars - A Game of Galactic Conquest.
The pieces have been punched and stored in little baggies. I counted a few of the bags and they were complete according to the instruction sheet. The game seems well cared for. This 2024 box shows some shelf wear and has amazing graphics on the front. The board has been folded for a long time and needs to sit flat for a bit to fully flatten out. You can see this in the photos.
About the game -
In Amoeba Wars, players play remnants of a fallen galactic civilization returning to its home sector, which had been overrun by space amoebae.
Starting from corners of a hexagonal board, players direct fleets of ships to capture solar systems and push back amoeba infestations and renegade doomsday machines (relics of the empire), trying to control the central solar systems and retake Saestor, the old homeworld, at the center of the board.
Amoeba Wars is not a simulation. Nor is it warmed over hash! We present, with pride, a truly innovative fantasy game easily learned, yet subtle in the strategy of play.
