ERNEST SOHN Creations Round Casserole, 2024 3.5 Quart Covered Dish with Warming Stand, Mid Century Modern Teak

Beautiful Ernest Sohn Creations mid century 3.5 quart round casserole dish with warming stand. If you are looking for darn near perfect, this is the one!! This design is part of his 'Doric' collection and was made between l958-1962. Ernest Sohn was a mid century gift line designer who was recognized by the Museum of Modern Art in their 'Good Design' program during the 1940s and ‘50s. His ceramics, known and collected by fans of mid century design, were made by Hall China. Today, he's most celebrated for his very modernist ceramics.

This is the larger of 2 sizes made. Overall condition is excellent - free of chips, cracks, crazing or fleabites. Both the inner and outer rim are free of chips. There is some staining just under the inside lid as seen in 5th photo. Teak legs and lid handle are perfect. The wooden lid is in terrific condition but you can see and feel where the wood strips have been joined (barely worth mentioning;). All 2024 of the wood is free of gouges, cracks, breaks or dents. The metal part of the stand is worn more on the inside of the rim and has some light wax residue in the center candle holder. 2 of the 3 places where the round rim is joined to the legs are secure, 1 is not attached, but sits securely on the leg (of course the weight of the dish is supported on the rim and all 3 legs). This is not affect the integrity of the stand.

overall height assembled on stand is 11-1/2"

Please note that any box greater than the equivalent of 12"x12"x12" is considered 'oversized' and USPS charges a premium. To avoid this surcharge, the lid handle and wooden legs will be removed so that this dish will be packaged securely with a 12x12x12. Weight will be just over 6 pounds boxed.
