A vintage sterling silver replica Hunterston annular brooch featuring a traditional Celtic design. The brooch was assayed in Edinburgh in 1970 and is signed 'H' (Hamish Dawson Bowman). The reverse side of the brooch is fully hallmarked for sterling silver.
The Scottish silversmith Hamish Dawson Bowman founded Celtic Art Industries in Glasgow in 1945. Much of his work has been inspired by historical Celtic artefacts. The original Hunterston brooch was made c.700 AD and is on display at the National Museum of Scotland.
