These silver and black Thai pieces were popular in the 1950s through '70s, and were produced by a variety of jewellery shops. This is a wonderful articulated lavalier necklace. The Necklace is solid sterling silver and the darker detail to the front is done using a process called Niello. There are five Beautiful Niello Heart Panels with Pretty Silver Boarders across the front and the chain itself also has small Diamond shaped and round Niello panels.
The necklace is unmarked and I think some of the links were lost as it was very short when I first purchased this piece, I have had it lengthened by approx. 10cm or approx 4" inches. While at the jewellers I had the silver tested and he confirmed it is sterling silver.
This stunning necklace is a Lavalier style. The necklace measures approx. 45 cm or 17 & 3/4" inches in length. The central feature is articulated and measures approx. 14cm (Approx. 5" & 1/2" inches) across and the central drop measures approx. 2.3cm long (Approx. 7/8" 2024 inches)(At its longest point.
A lavalier or lavaliere or lavalliere is an item of jewellery consisting of a pendant, sometimes with one stone, suspended from a necklace.
The style was popularized by the Duchesse de la Vallière, a mistress of King Louis XIV of France. A lavalier can be recognized most for its drop (that usually consist of a stone and/or a chandelier type of drop) which is attached to the chain and not attached by a bail
* This lovely Siam Niello Necklace is sterling silver, it is unmarked but has been tested by my jeweller as sterling silver.

* Its clasp is in excellent working condition. I could not see any damage to this necklace it is in wonderful vintage condition. There are a few barely visible marks to the silver and/or stones which you would expect from vintage jewellery, but they are not obvious. An excellent condition vintage necklace. It has lovely patina which I think accentuates the pattern of the piece.
* The necklace will come in the lovely gift box pictured or one similar.
This beautiful necklace is from my personal collection which I am downsizing.
