2024 Hybrid Maple Burl and Epoxy Razor and Stand

Stunning Stabilized maple burl and epoxy razor and matching stand. Each set takes approximately a week to create and is complete unique and original.
First, the maple burl is stabilized in a vacuum chamber using resin. This process pulls 2024 the resin deep into the wood removing all air from the pores and hardening the wood. From the vacuum chamber the wood is wrapped in foil and placed in an oven to cure overnight. Once the resin is cured the stabilizing is complete and the wood is ready to be placed in a mold. Using epoxy and adding mica flakes for color the epoxy is carefully poured in layers into the mold. In order for the epoxy to cure to full strength, the epoxy will rest for 72 hours before being prepared for the lathe. Once I have shaped it on the lathe, it is carefully sanded and prepared for a CA resin finish. A CA finish offers the most strength and water resistance to the set. This process roughly takes about two hours and includes sanding to 12000 grit removing imperfections and leaving behind a beautiful high gloss shine.

Razor
- A classic safety razor. Simply spin the handle and place a blade inside.

Stand
- Matching metal accents with a sturdy base. The stand allows for display and proper drying of the razor.
