Small vintage Stratton 1950s purse clasp "Pontoon" loose powder compact, Persian design. gilt finish, boxed

This is an early piece in really amazing condition for its age as it has been kept in the pochette and box. . On the lid is an attractive Persian inspired design. The reverse is typical ribbed "Pontoon" design. Inside there is a clear mirror and the inner lid opens to reveal a clean powder well with felt washer, that was designed tos stop loose powder seeping out from under the lid. Hinges and clasp work well. 2024 The bezel is inscribed 'STRATTON MADE IN ENGLAND'.

The "Pontoon" measures 3 ins X 2 1/2 ins or 7.7 cm x 6.2 cm. According to Juliette Edwards book "the Stratton Key" (available on Etsy) it was available in 1948, 1952 and 1953.

It comes in the original box, with grey felt pochette. Please look at the photos.
