Product code: Antique 1923 2024 Steampunk Heavy Brass Taylor Glass Tube Celsius Thermometer Works!
Taylor thermometers are made by the oldest and best-known American thermometer company. Started in 1851 in Rochester, New York, Taylor's “Weather glasses” furnished Victorians with their first idea of just how hot or cold it really was (everyone just generalized before, like “colder than a witches' tits in a brass bra”). After it made this thermometer, Taylor went on to manufacture gauges for applications like the World War II Manhattan Project. They took a licking and kept on ticking! This gauge works in that the liquid moves up and down the tube roughly to the correct Celsius temperature, between freezing and boiling. It measures 13.5 x 2 x 1.5 inches (34 x 5 x 4 cm). The thermometer itself is 8.75 inches (22 cm) long. It weighs almost 2 pounds (almost 1 kg) before shipping! A must have for any metal steampunk contraption. The rod below the thermometer is .5 inches in diameter (about 1 cm) & 2 inches so it could fit into an existing hole for visibility 2024. Go back in time and steampunk.
