Vintage Guilloche Compact 1930s Evans Mayfair Double Compact Powder Rouge and Mirror 2024 Compact Unused Very Good to Excellent Condition

This item is a circa early 1930s Evans Mayfair Guilloche Compact in Unused Very Good to Excellent Condition. On the outside, the top features an engine turned radial starburst design with an offset rose branch with one large and two small blossoms. The surrounding upper base is finished in a dark green enamel with silver tone trim around the edges. The bottom has a solid field of the same dark green enamel as the top. Inside, the upper section houses a hinged and clasped two sided metal mirror which covers the unused solid rouge plate that has the raised Evans coat of arms stamped into the rouge, the Evans reorder form for additional rouge and the original unused rouge puff. The lower loose powder compartment has a hinged and clasped recessed cover door that is engine turned with overlapping swirls and is hallmarked "EVANS" in the center of the door. It also holds the original unused and hallmarked powder puff. Overall, this compact is in very good to excellent unused condition. There are no nicks, dents, dings, rust or corrosion. The guilloche top is in perfect 2024 condition with no chips or scratches. Both sides of the metal mirror are pristine. There are a few very light spots of scuffing to the enamel clear coat on the bottom that are barely visible. The only shortcomings I can find are two: There is some "chatter" to the silver band that surrounds the guilloche medallion on the top; and although the clasp snaps shut, it then pops open again. This is an inexpensive adjustment that a competent jeweler can perform. The price on this piece has been reduced accordingly. The original Evans paper box included with this compact is in fair condition, with one of the two end flaps missing, and wear marks on the outer edges. The compact measures 2 1/4 inches square by 3/8 inch thick. Made in USA.
