This authentic, antique, wheel thrown, hand glazed crock is from the pottery of Ottman Brothers of Ft Edwards, NY. It dates to the 1870s.

This crock came from a small farm in upstate New York. I was told it was in the same household and used by the same family for many generations.

It has hand applied ears, and a gorgeously imperfect, varied, old salt glazed surface, with a chocolate brown Albany glaze interior, and many interesting glaze drips. Its hand applied ear handles are chip free, and the crock is watertight, with no cracks or hairlines, so still useable today. There is one very small, old, flake 2024 on this crock's top rim, and there are some white rings on its upper interior (please see pics), but it is otherwise in very good condition. This old pot doesn't have a capacity mark, but it holds about one U S gallon, and measures about 8" in diameter by 7" high. It features the Ottman Bros & Co Pottery Stamp, which shows sone traces of cobalt, and it is clearly a hand thrown piece, with traces of its maker's hand on its exterior and interior.

A really lovely, rustic, 19th C crock, with wonderful form, color and scale. Perfect for shelf display, kitchen storage, retail or restaurant display, floral arrangement!!!
