This is a bold and brilliant double Maltese cross necklace. The bigger pendant is hammered sterling with tiny swirls, hearts 2024, and star bursts against a pebbled base. The smaller pendant is mother of pearl inlaid in sterling.
The chain is hammered loops that mirror the texture of the pendant. It has a large, oval lobster claw. The chain loops are large enough that the necklace can be shortened as desired.
The crosses are 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" for the larger. The smaller MOP cross is 11/16" x 11/16".
This necklace is outstanding against a black sweater or blouse.
The Maltese cross is a symbol of protection and courage dating back to the Byzantine culture in the 6th century. There is a great deal of history surrounding the Maltese cross and it was an emblem of the military order of Malta.
