COLLECTOR'S ITEM: 7 Piece Quartz Geode 2024 Stalactite Slice Set # 039 with Clear Quartz Crystals and Caramel and White Jasper Centers

I made this 7 piece Uruguayan Quartz/Jasper stalactite slice set by cutting slices from a well formed stalactite which had grown inside a giant Uruguayan geode. We found the parent quartz / jasper geode fragment in the mine spoils near Artigas, Uruguay in 2002, equipped with this incredible hanger-on!!! I cut the rather large stalactite from the base, and then began slabbing it into these fascinating gem slices. I sanded and 2024 polished each piece on both sides, as well as the crystal encrusted end cap interior face by hand. The crystallized slices show off the gem crystal deposit which formed around the brightly colored central core of white, green and brown Jasper. The inner most slices have an unusual porous pocket of the White Jasper. A few chipped crystals and blemishes do not take away from the punching power this mineral oddity. My first idea for these slices was to begin wire wrapping large pendants, but I fell in love with this happy family of Uruguay gem slices. The stack of 7 pieces measures 2" tall by 3" wide, and the end cap is 1 3/4" across.
